Sam Smith’s James Bond theme, “The Writing’s On The Wall”, has won the British singer an Oscar for Best Original Song at last night’s 2016 ceremony.
It’s the second Bond theme song to win the Oscar for Best Original Song after Adele won in February 2013 for “Skyfall”. It also won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song and became the UK number one on October 8 2015 – the first Bond song to top the charts.
While both songs are Oscar Winners, I feel that Adele’s “Skyfall” edges Sam Smith’s “The Writing’s On The Wall.
Spectre is out to buy on DVD, Blu-ray, and other digital formats and debuted at Number 1 on the official Video Chart in the UK to become the fastest selling DVD/Blu-ray of 2016 so far.
Sam Mendes has claimed that he has directed his last Bond film after helming both Skyfall and Spectre to commercial and critical success.
It is understood that Daniel Craig, who will be 48 in March, is contracted for one more film before stepping down from the role which he helped reboot in 2006 with Casino Royale.
